# 342 South Riana, enrolled by his father Rowland (sic) Rowsthorn, mail-carrier of South Riana living a mile from the school. Wilfred was admitted on 6 October 1925 and was placed in Prep. In 1926 he progressed to Grade I/P, 1927 I, 1928 II, 1929 IV, 1930 V, 1931 VI, 1932 VII. He passed the Compulsory Standard and left school in December 1932 as he was over age.

Military Records

Service number T18141. He enlisted at Burnie on 12 August 1940, giving his next of kin as father Roland Rowsthorn. He was released from further service on 12 January 1943 for ‘Farm Work’. He was a Private in the A.A.S.C. (Australian Army Service Corps) petrol section.
