School Records

#432 Riana , enrolled by father William Mason, a labourer living four miles from the school, on 11 February 1929 , the same day as his sister Nancy.  He did Grade I over the next two years (most likely Prep then Grade I), then in 1931 he was in Grade II, 1932 III, 1933 IV/V, 1934 VI and 1935 VII. He was Dux of Grade VI in 1934, and the following year passed the Compulsory Standard and received a Merit Certificate for his studies (see overleaf). He left in December 1935 as he was ‘over age’.

 

Military Records

Trevor enlisted in Penguin on 26 January 1942, giving his next of kin as his father William.  His service number was TX6766. His file has not yet been digitised but his son stated “He was a gunner but did not go to New Guinea as he came home to see his family before he went. When he got back his battalion had left early so they sent him cane cutting. When the next batch was to go WW2 ended.”

On discharge, 14 February 1945, his rank was Lance Bombardier and he was serving with the 1 Aust. Cavalry  Commando Training Sqn.
