Enrolment number295, 327 and 402 all South Riana State School.  First date of admission was 12 Feb 1923, enrolled by father Arthur, a farmer at South Riana, living 1 mile from school, placed in P but left 21 Dec 1923 to go to Ridgely State Schoool.  He left there on 7 Nov 1924. Registered with South Riana State School on 17 Nov 192. On the 19 July 1928 he left to go to Somerset. He re-enrolled at South Riana State School on 1 Oct 1928, and left again in Sept 1929 to continue his schooling in Cuprona, leaving Cuprona in August 1930 to go to Marrawah State School. No further records available.

 

Military Records

Service number TX3920. Driver 2/36 Aust Transport,  then to Private 2/40 Battalion. He enlisted at Burnie on 21 July 1940, next of kin his father Arthur. He served in the NT 20 April 1941 to 8 Dec 1941 then Timor 8 Dec 1941 to 11 Dec 1942, again in the NT 11 Dec 1942 to 13 Jan 1943, New Guinea 25 July 1943 to 16 Feb 1944, and Borneo 29 May 1945 to 4 Jan 1946. Total period of service was 719 days in Australia and 794 overseas: 2018 days. On 22 Feb 1942 he was listed as missing, but reported on 15 June ‘with unit and well’. He suffered from recurring malaria.
