Service number VF388459, Signalwoman 33 AWAS Barracks. On her enlistment she stated that she was born in England, and that she was single. In fact she was born in Tasmania and was married, although separated. In a letter within her file, she has written “I was in the first school of AWAS trained in Melbourne at Ivanhoe Boys Grammar School at Darebin.” And in a later letter “I embarked on SS either N**** or the Loongana at Melbourne in late 1942 and sailed to Launceston Tasmania. I reported to Anglesea Barracks, Hobart. I returned to Melbourne approximately three weeks later by the same vessel from Launceston.” She served from 4 July 1942 until 6 June 1944, a total of 703 days. She was discharged due to being medically unfit for further service.
