School Records

Clifton’s date of admission was 27 Feb 1928 when he was 5 ½. Was enrolled (# 393 South Riana) by his father Thomas, a farmer from South Riana, who lived ½ mile from the school. In 1928 he was placed in Prep/I, 1929 and 1930 Grade I,  1931 II, 1932 IV, 1933 V, 1934 VI, 1935 and 1936 VII. Passed Compulsory Standard Test. He left in July 1936 for ‘Home Duties’.

 

Military Records

Service number T28172. Enlisted at Penguin on 7 October 1941 and was placed in 6th Field Regiment as a Gunner. His next of kin was his father Thomas. Clifton was described as a single lorry driver. He was granted leave for two months over the Christmas to assist with harvesting, then on his return he was sent to Area 50 where he worked as a farm hand. In April 1943 he was again granted leave for harvesting. Two months later on 1 June 1943 he was granted release from further military service with the reason being ‘for Farm Work’.
