Enrolled at South Riana number 228, on 4 February 1920 by his father Walter, farmer from South Riana living 1 ½ miles from school. He left school on 1 July 1927 for ‘Farm Work’.

 

Military Records

Service Number TX14008, was a L/Corporal in 12/50 Inf. Btn. His next of kin was wife Rita Clarke. He enlisted at Brighton on 29 March 1943 stating that he was painter. Had previously been in the 12/50 for 16 months, SN T28838 originally enlisting on 28 Jan 1942 in Burnie. Was granted leave without pay 23 Oct to 23 Feb 1943 for woodcutting. Served in Queensland and the Northern Territory where he stayed until April 1945, training as a rigger. The Unit changed its name to107 Aust Bge Workshop. He served a total of 1122 days all within Australia.
