School Records
Alfred’s first enrolment number at South Riana State School was number445 when, on 27 January 1931, he was enrolled by his father who gave Alfred’s birthdate as 10 May 1924. Walter described himself as a farmer from South Riana living two miles from the school. In July 1932 he moved to Ulverstone State School. He left there on 18 April 1933 which he continued at South Riana State School, enrolment number479. He attended there for the next five months, leaving on the 29 September 1933 to attend school at Smithton.
Military Records
Service number TX13761. On his attestation papers he stated his birthdate as 10 March 1924, with his next of kin being his father W. Clarke. He enlisted at Hobart on 8 March 1943 and discharged 2 Nov 1945.
